First printing, first issue, with John McLoughlin Jr. as a solo printer at 24 Beekman Street in New York City after the dissolution of Elton & Co., the publishing house owned by his father John Sr. and Robert H. Elton. The printing blocks used were those of Edward Dunigan, a New York picture book publisher for whom Robert Elton had executed many wood engravings.
